Botanical Invitations For Weddings All Year Round

March 25, 2024 Katy Chester
wedding invitation flat lay with text saying 'botanical wedding invitations for weddings all year round'

When I first started out in the wedding industry (back in 2017), botanicals and greenery were a huge trend. While a lot of trends have come and gone since then, I’m so pleased that botanical weddings are still very much here to stay.

What is a botanical wedding, do you ask? For me, it’s a wedding that uses mostly foliage and greenery for the styling and decor.

There are lots of things I love about botanical weddings. Firstly, the theme works perfectly for weddings all year round, no matter the season. You can also be more flexible with your colour palette, without specific florals that you need to match. And lastly, the botanical theme works really well whether you’re having an opulent wedding with tonnes of detail and foliage or are opting for a more minimal look.

Botanical themed invitations are always really popular, and I can totally see why. Quite often when you send your save the dates or invitations, you may not have a colour palette confirmed, or you may want to keep the finer details of the day a surprise. A botanical design can offer your guests a subtle hint of what to expect on the day, without ruining any surprises.

I have quite a few botanical inspired invitation designs within my collection, so I’ll share those with you below, just in case you need a bit of inspiration.

WATERCOLOUR EUCALYPTUS INVITATIONS

This watercolour eucalyptus stationery suite is part of my Anne collection. Eucalyptus is always popular choice for floral arrangements when it comes to weddings, so it’s nice to include a hint of it in your stationery design. The muted green tones can complement a range of colour palettes and therefore can be a great design for weddings in all seasons.

OLIVE BRANCH WEDDING INVITATIONS

If you’re having a destination wedding and are looking for something a little more minimal for your invitations, my Penelope suite could be perfect for you. The design features delicate hand drawn olive branches, which frame the classic serif font. The neutral tones are a perfect match for lots of different envelope options, or you can customise the colour of the design to match your chosen colour palette.

MINIMAL BOTANICAL INVITATIONS

If you’re wanting a more understated botanical invitation, my Estella suite is exactly that. The single watercolour branch and clean, minimal design give an elegant and ethereal feel. It’s a really versatile design too, and can be used for weddings all year round.

WINTER BOTANICAL WEDDING INVITATIONS

This invitation suite (part of my Elizabeth collection) is inspired by crisp winter walks and the delicate botanicals that can be found in the hedgerows. The design features hand sketched lunaria (honesty) seed pods and winter berries. The minimal design is perfect for couples that are getting married in the colder months of the year and aren’t wanting anything too festive.

CHRISTMAS BOTANICAL WEDDING INVITATIONS

My Natasha suite was one of the first designs I created back in 2017 and is still a firm favourite today. With lots of delicate watercolour holly branches, spruce, mistletoe and winter berries, it’s the perfect botanical invitation for couples having a festive wedding around Christmas time.

AUTUMN BOTANICAL WEDDING INVITATIONS

Autumn (or fall if you’re across the pond), is all about golden hues, burnt oranges and rusty reds and my Olivia collection fully encapsulates this. The design is scattered with hand painted watercolour branches and is perfect for couples having a classic autumn wedding.

BOTANICAL WREATH INVITATIONS

The Catherine suite is another of my earlier designs. It features a delicate, hand drawn botanical wreath that elegantly frames the invitation design. This version has been printed in grey but the colour can be customised to match your colour palette.

This may be cheating a little bit, as this could also be classed as a floral design but it’s a favourite of mine, so it had to be included! The Hermia collection features a hand painted watercolour wreath with soft ruscus and hints of cream florals. It was designed with spring weddings in mind but due to its versatile colour palette, it work well for weddings all year round.

And there we have it, a varied selection of botanical designs for lots of different styles and seasons.
