Autumn Wedding Inspiration In Cyprus

If you’re planning a destination wedding, the time of year you get married is a really important thing to consider, especially when it comes to the weather and amount of daylight hours etc..

Couples getting married overseas often opt for a spring or summer wedding but autumn always seems to be overlooked. You still get those balmy temperatures but without the searing heat and although the days are shorter, you’re almost guaranteed to get the most gorgeous golden hour shots.

If you’re looking for the perfect destination for your autumn wedding, look no further than Cyprus. With its rugged coastline peppered with sandy beaches and surrounded by crystal clear water, it’s the epitome of romance. Plus you still get decent temperatures well into October.

To top off the romance-factor, in mythology Cyprus was actually thought to be the birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love.

With summer well and truly behind us, I thought I’d share some autumnal wedding inspiration from a beautiful shoot that I’ve had tucked away in the vault. It may have been a while ago that this shoot was put together but the timeless details still should have a moment to shine.

The shoot was dreamed up, planned and photographed by the wonderful Natalie Stevenson Photography, who teamed up with local wedding stylist and florist Splendid Events who helped bring her vision to life.

Set on the rocks near Governor’s Beach in Cyprus, the shoot had an ethereal feel with delicate, floaty dresses from Made Bride and elegant accessories from Rachel Sokhal Bridal. Gorgeous nightwear and swimwear from Roisin Reuss added to the story and offers even more stunning bridal inspiration.

The stunning tablescape perched on the rocks was abundant with rich autumnal colours that contrasted beautifully with the turquoise of the ocean.

The florals, while carefully curated had a natural feel to them which complemented the rugged, natural backdrop. Bursting with autumn tones such as burnt orange, red and gold, they really showcased the best of what the season had to offer.

We decided to go quite simple for the place settings, just including a napkin, an autumnal sprig and a handmade paper place card to complement the natural feel, which was finished with a wash of golden watercolour and gold calligraphy names.

The invitation set followed suit with natural deckled edge paper and continuing the theme with illustrated autumnal branches in the seasonal colour palette.

The suite was completed with bespoke design details such as an illustrated map of Cyprus and a custom monogram with the couple’s initials. To make it that extra bit special, I included luxury finishes such as calligraphy addressing and a watercolour envelope liner.

If you are planning an autumn wedding, now is the perfect time to start booking your suppliers (if you live in the Northern Hemisphere).

When it comes to sending out save the dates, I’d usually recommend sending them around 1 year before. For invitations, you’ll be wanting to send those out between 3-6 months before the wedding and for any day stationery items, most designers like to get slots booked in around 8 weeks before the day.

Whether you’re getting married overseas or locally, hopefully you’re feeling inspired for your autumn wedding.
